Help Bring Healing and Joy to Children at Our Program Center — Support Us on Giving Tuesday!

For the children who stay at our shelter, play isn't just recreation—it's part of healing. Many of our kids arrive carrying worries far bigger than their years. Here, in this safe space, moments of laughter and play help restore something every child deserves: the chance to feel free, secure, and joyful. Right now, our outdoor play area is in need of a few upgrades. The swing set we once relied on is now worn out.

That is why on Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2025, our goal is to raise $16,000 to purchase a new playset, ground cover, outdoor table / chairs and grill from Home Depot.

We are partnering with Home Depot / Team Depot who has written a $3,300 grant for SHOH; and Team Depot has committed to install everything! There will also be a $1,500 "Challenge Grant" from anonymous donors. That means, the first $4,800 we receive in donations will actually be doubled!

A new swing set may seem simple, but for the children here, it represents something profound: safety, comfort, and hope. Will you give these kids a place to soar again? Any contribution—large or small—brings us closer to building a space where healing and happiness can take root. You can make a donation the following ways:

Our current playset is 15 years old. Because it is wooden it is rotting in some areas. The wood chips need to be replaced. Also, we have a sand box and patio furniture that has seen better days!

The Adventure Tunnel Playset from Hope Depot is full of activities for children ages 3 to 12 years. Constructed of UV-protected high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and powder-coated steel, it's durable, weather-resistant and will not warp, rot, crack or splinter. During Giving Tuesday we also hope to replace the wood chips – either with newer wood chips or rubber chips. There are also many accessories we can add to this playset!

Iggy's Auction

Are you spring cleaning and needing to find a place for your unwanted but valuable stuff? Shirley's House of Hope is partnering with Iggy's Auction to raise funds for women and children overcoming domestic violence and addition.

Call Iggy's Auction to plan for dropping off your items. Then bring your unwanted - but valuable - items to their location between NOW and July 18. Items that sell well include: guns, coins, antiques, Bobble Heads, crocks and stoneware, primitives, complete sets, ammunition, tools, jewelry, sports memorabilia, rare and unique items, old toys, sporting goods, animal mounts, collectibles, etc.

We are also blessed with a number of willing people who do various fundraisers throughout the year and donate the proceeds to Shirley's House of Hope. All proceeds go directly to helping women and children who are hurting from domestic violence along with drug and alcohol addictions.
