Development Associate

Description:

To assist with and contribute to fulfilling the vision and mission of SHOH by aiding the Development Director with ensuring effective marketing communication and fundraising activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Development and contribute to marketing and development efforts in all areas of fundraising.
    • Assist in coordinating and executing all fundraising activities, i.e., Iron Chef with Live and Silent Auction and the Run for Hope events.
  • Assist and contribute to effective church and public relations efforts in coordination with Executive Director and Development Director
    • Assist with and contribute to communications with newsletters, literature, website, media advertising, and direct mail campaigns and donor acquisition.
    • Assist with processing and acknowledging donations and gifts to SHOH.
    • Plan donor related activities.
    • Oversee communications with mass and monthly donors.
  • Other duties as assigned to assist the recovery program, as needed. See attached for additional information.

Overnight Staff

Overnight sleep position available from 8pm to 8am. Shirley's House of Hope is a faith-based domestic violence and recovery shelter with the purpose of helping with the personal restoration of women hurting from the effects of abuse and addiction. This is a sleep position. We are seeking someone to do either one, two or three nights a week. The night staff needs to make sure the building is cleaned and secure, make sure clients are in their rooms, answer any phone calls that come in, and be responsive to client needs during the night. Candidates should possess good communication skills, should be compassionate and patient, and understand that confidentiality is expected in this environment. She should hold the leadership capabilities to make decisions under pressure and enforce Godly judgement. Applicants must be female, be able to pass a standard background check, hold a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, and have a high school diploma. Since we are a faith-based ministry, we are looking for someone with a deep spiritual life. Experience in working with people with addiction and abuse issues is a plus.

Weekend Staff

Shirley's House of Hope is a faith-based domestic violence and recovery shelter with the purpose of helping with the personal restoration of women hurting from the effects of abuse and addiction. We are looking for a woman who is mature in her faith with a calling on her life to minister to women and children. She should possess good communication skills, should be compassionate and patient, and understand that confidentiality is expected in this environment. She should hold the leadership capabilities to make decisions under pressure and be a team player. Applicants must hold a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. The hours for this position are: Saturday and Sunday 8pm to 8am, or noon to 4pm, or noon to 8pm, or 4pm to 8pm. We have various shifts available.
