Positive People: Shirley's House of Hope 

Most of the time, the women who stay at the shelter prefer to remain anonymous, not wanting others to know they've been abused, but the women staying there now felt so strongly about how Julie and Sue have changed their lives, they decided to speak up publicly for the first time, nominating Sue and Julie as Positive People on WSAW Channel 7.

Domestic Abuse Center Celebrates Three Years of Service to Families

Shirley's House of Hope celebrated three years on Oct. 1 of helping women and children who are hurting from domestic abuse in our community. Top donors and current volunteers were invited to come for a special dessert open house and time of testimony.

Jefferson Award Winner: Eva Koopman

Eva Koopman, one of our volunteers and board members, received the Jefferson Award presented to her by Melissa Langben of WAOW Channel 9 for volunteering at Shirley's House of Hope. She was on the channel 9 news at 6:00pm and 10:00pm December 13th.We are so proud of her. She is a woman of faith, who is a blessing to SHOH. She volunteers 3 nights a week and facilitates the women's support group once a week.

Domestic Violence Awareness

Julie, our Shirley's House of Hope president, recently spoke on Up Close with Don Nystrom on Marshfield Community TV about our shelter. She talks all about the shelter and also what to do if you or someone you know needs help. Julie's portion starts about half way through (at the 26:45 mark) the broadcast.
